The PR Writer creates outstanding PR news releases, websites, ads, speeches, articles, sales materials and taglines, shortening and improving websites and marketing materials with advanced editing techniques. He also teaches employees how to write better and more effectively and helps companies make better business presentations.
Rotman has had a long career in public relations and journalism, working for international PR firms in Toronto, Chicago (his home town) and New York. In Toronto, he currently works with a leading branding company, Marchese Design, to create brand identities, corporate design projects and copy. Apparently born with ‘ink in his blood,’ he began a journalistic love affair by delivering newspapers in his Chicago suburb; and started in wire service journalism, and worked for the Washington, D.C. Post during the Watergate era. He was also an editor and publisher in Toronto and a radio movie critic on several stations here. His PR Writing blog examines news releases and how to improve them and has completed a book called “Of is and by: How to be a better writer overnight,” which will someday see publication. He really believes he can help improve anyone’s writing, and make it shorter and more concise – overnight!
Rotman was a media studies professor at Humber College from 2008-2018, teaching PR Writing, media relations, politics and public affairs and writing and business presentations at Ryerson University. His other claim to fame, was that he was a Jeopardy contestant. He earned a BA in Literature and Languages at Bennington College, VT. and a masters in politics from Columbia University, NY and also studied at Boston University and the University of Chicago.
